As a club member, participating in races against other people isn’t mandatory but we do encourage you to try it.
One of the positives about being in a running club is that you’re not alone in a race. We’re here to support your goals!
Club championships
Throughout the club year, we run our club championship races, a selection of 12 races from one mile to a marathon. Points are accrued by club members with an awards ceremony at the end of the year.
Every London Frontrunner will be automatically enrolled into the club championships if they take part in one race. Many of the fixtures are subsidised by the club, so please get in touch with our race captains if you want to race!

Interested in running cross country?
As part of your LFR membership, the registration fees are entirely covered by the club. For the 2024/25 Met League season, we ask that you register interest with the cross country captains ([email protected]).
On your feet, trail shoes are often appropriate for the initial meets in the league when the ground tends to be drier. As we move into November to February, cross country spikes may be a better option as conditions can get very wet and muddy.
As an LFR tradition, after the racing is done we like to share our best efforts at baking. So if you have time to bake something beforehand, bring some cake or other goodies (no soggy bottoms please!). And after cake, we usually head to a local pub for post-race drinks.
Other races
London Frontrunners gets places allocated in the London Marathon through our affiliation with England Athletics and also through our volunteering contribution.
Other races we regularly participate in are:
The Green Belt Relay
Battersea/London Bridge Relays
River Relay
Isle of Wight Fell Race Series
James Herriot Run
